What is called “梅雨 (Tsu-yu)” and “秋雨 (Aki-same)”

You might hear the word of “梅雨 (Tsu-yu)” these days. In Japan, there are 2 rainy season, which is called as the “Tsu-yu” or “Bai-u” during the spring and summer, and “秋雨 (Aki-same)” during the summer and autumn. So, actually there are 6 season in Japan, spring, rainy season(Tsu-yu), summer, rainy season(Aki-same), autumn, winter.

Tsu-yu comes round every year from around May to July although vary by location. Daily weather forecast is coming up with this topic every day in this period.

Precipitation of the rainy seasons accounts for about 1/4 to 1/5 per year. Rainfall increases as the go to the west and south in Japan.
