Now some are counting days……for having fun Halloween.
By Wikipedia, Halloween is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from Celtic harvest festivals which may have pagan roots, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain, and that this festival was Christianized as Halloween. Some academics, however, support the view that Halloween began independently as a solely Christian holiday.
People usually get dressed and costumed like Vampire, Zombie, or some characters and gather together at a place. Usually for Japanese their image of Halloween of Western culture is… kids dressed up and go to town and asking houses for getting sweets. They say “Trick or Treat”, and each household will answer “Happy Halloween” or “Treat” and give them candies or some snacks.
Japan even they and not Christian country but have keep celebrating Halloween for a long time. However, from few years it turned to a big event (like a party), especially in urban area. If you go to Shibuya on Halloween day, you will understand how crazy people become. It is like you have a huge town party at a whole night. Thousands of people dressed or costumed up come to gather for having fun. It is fun to have and become crazy with people you do not know or first time to meet.
Why people dress or costumed up like a monster, ghost, devils or something we can see on horror movie is…
Originally people consider October 31th as a day we lose the border between our world and the other world and many Evils would come to our world, so that people dress up in order to avoid get possessed.
In my opinion with the a few year experiences spending in Canada, Japanese people’s Halloween costumes tend to be cute or character-ish. Especially for girls, they try to be really sexy and even we think they are trying to catch a guy for spending time or evil to having fun.
As long as it is an event held by Human, and but just be careful not encountered to too much crazy people, or maybe real Evils would be there!
