Titans in Isayama’s Hometown, Hita City!
An unveiling ceremony of bronze statues for Attack on Titan’s main characters took place on Sunday 8th November in Oita Prefecture. The statues portraying young Eren, Mikasa, and Armin were revealed at the Oyama dam in Hita city, hometown of manga artist and creator Hajime Isayama.
The life-size statues show the characters looking up at the 94-meter high dam, which is likened to the wall in the film. It was erected by a group of volunteers called the “Shingeki in HITA Town Revitalization Council” with funds raised through a crowd-funding campaign.
Mr Isayama attended the ceremony to which around 200 people were invited. The ceremony was also available to stream live online on the group’s YouTube channel.
Masayuki Toyoshima Wins the 3rd Round of the Ryuousen Tournament in 172 Moves
The 3rd round of the 33rd Ryuousen tournament was held on November 7th and 8th. Masayuki Toyoshima (currently Ryuo title holder) took on Yoshiharu Habu and won the 3rd round.
Masayuki Toyoshima holds both Ryuo and Eio shogi titles and is one of four Kansai-based young shogi professionals, known as the Big Young Kansai Four.
Yoshiharu Habu has been a pro shogi player since junior high school and when he was 25 he became the only player to hold all sever shogi titles. He is also famous for his talks, including a TED Talk, about how the Internet is changing the shogi world.
The match was held at Ninna-ji Temple, the head temple in Kyoto City. It started at 9:00 am on the 7th and ended at 7:51 pm on the 8th! The 4th round will be played on November 12 and 13 at Yoshikawa-ya, Anabara Onsen, Fukushima City.
