Denial of Permission to Entry

From October, the Government of Japan (GOJ) agreed, according to Article 5, Paragraph (1), Term (xiv) of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, to remove the eight countries and the region below from the list of countries and regions to which entry prohibition is applied. For the countries and regions to which the entry ban currently applies, please see the following list. Foreign nationals who have stayed in these countries within 14 days before applying for landing will be denied landing in Japan.

Australia, Brunei, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Jordan, Myanmar

Foreign Nationals Who Have Stayed in Any of The Following Countries/Regions Within 14 Days Before Landing Application:

Notice that foreigners (from countries and regions where entry bans do not apply) are not denied entry to Japan when they arrive in Japan for refueling or transit purposes through any of the following 152 countries or regions subject to denial of entry permits. However, any who have entered those nations or regions will be subject to the entry ban.

Quarantine Measures

(1) All nationals arriving from the countries and regions listed in paragraph 1 above within 14 days before their application for landing into Japan are subject to conducting of COVID-19 tests for the time being

Please note that a negative test certificate of pre-entry testing conducted within 72 hours of the departure time of the flight) is required for foreign nationals arriving from countries/regions designated as an area subject to denial of permission to enter Japan.

(2) All nationals arriving from all regions are called upon to wait 14 days at a location designated by the quarantine station chief and to refrain from using public transportation for the time being
