If you love Starbucks baked goods, you’ll be happy to hear of the chain’s new food waste prevention policy. From Monday 23 August, doughnuts, cakes and other items will be discounted before closing, with a portion of the proceeds going to help children’s food and future development.
Starbucks Aim to Reduce Food Waste
Starbucks Coffee Japan K.K. will launch a program on Monday, August 23 aiming to “reduce food waste” as much as possible. To prevent waste, donuts, cakes, sandwiches, and other items will be sold at a 20% discount around three hours before closing, (depending on the stock availability of each store on that day). In addition to promoting sales and reducing food loss, a portion of the proceeds from this program will be donated to Musubie, a certified NPO, to help create a better future for local children through food.
If you’re a Starbucks lover, why not head to your local store just before they close to nab a cheap doughnut and support this cause.
