Language reactor is a browser extension that allows you to utilize different language and learning tools to your advantage with a click of a button! As we have personally utilized this tool for our language learning, we at Guidable are here today as we want to give you a short showcase of just what exactly it can do!

After installing Language Reactor as an extension to your browser, you can start accessing their various language learning tools! As an example, you can try opening your Netflix to a Japanese show and start watching! Language Reactor will then automatically pop up along with your regular subtitles! Not only in Netflix, but Language Reactor also works in YouTube, allowing you to watch virtually anything!

For shows and videos that initially have no English subtitles, Language Reactor can also generate translated subtitles from the original language, which is very convenient as many shows only have subtitles in their original language (Animes in Netflix Japan, etc.). Based on our experience, the generated subtitles come across naturally, which really helps when learning a different language. They also have a special selection of content curated for easy learning, so be sure to check that out as well!

Controls and Options

When watching, Language Reactor offers different controls and options to suit your viewing and learning needs! The first one is bilingual subtitles, which can display two different subtitles at the same time! If you’re an English speaker who wants to learn Japanese, Language Reactor can combine English and Japanese subtitles for a seamless learning experience! The subtitles are also structured so that the English meaning for the Japanese word or phrase shows up next to each other, making learning each word easier. You can also click the word to show the definition and add it to your personal study list to study again later!

For a more detailed experience, Language Reactor also has an autopause feature, which automatically pauses the content as a line of dialogue is finished, making it so that breaking down and analyzing each word used in that line of dialogue a breeze!  The precise playback controls they offer also let you go forward and backward per line of dialogue, making your viewing experience more enjoyable! You can use this not only during learning, but just in your daily viewing experience! Not to mention, Language Reactor also has support for a wide variety of languages, so you can learn other languages aside from Japanese as well!

After your viewing experience, Language Reactor’s integrated toolkit will take your learning to another level! In their toolkit, the first feature we want to introduce is their “What to Learn” feature, where, based on your learning level, Language Reactor automatically suggests words for you to study! From that list, you can customize the word choice and Language Reactor’s algorithm will gradually improve and grasp a better understanding of how to help with your learning!  They also have a “Smart Highlighting” feature, where the word you highlighted will be shown in all different forms, making your Language learning more in-depth! Not only that, they also have “PhrasePump”, which is a listening exercise which reinforces saved words and introduces you to new ones! Last but not least, you can also export the words you’re learning into external software like Anki to automatically create a flashcard deck to further improve your learning experience. There are many more features that Language Reactor has to offer, so be sure to check all of them out for yourself!
